How it differs from the classic “birth cocoon” kit:
- It is made of 100% carded merino wool (uncombed), undyed. You can't get more natural... The colors are therefore more limited.
- It is a rustic, raw wool, less supple and less silky, but also suitable for babies (it does not scratch!!!).

The birth cocoon provides baby with constant contact which prevents startled awakenings. Baby goes through sleep cycles more easily than in a sleeping bag, soothed in his cocoon. Putting your baby to bed becomes much easier.

“In the early stages, babies need to be curled up to be reassured and to begin to discover their environment. The birth cocoon soothes and encourages baby to fall back asleep; it can even be used in summer thanks to the thermoregulatory properties of merino wool. This is a soft swaddle, since it does not hinder baby's movements, and allows him access to his hands, to relieve his little aches. The permanent contact it provides helps prevent startled awakenings (Moro reflex), while guaranteeing optimal safety for baby during the waking and sleeping phases.”

The pattern of the birth cocoon:

Pattern made by Agathe, early childhood professional, tested and approved by many knitters. The cocoon is preferably knitted with 6mm circular needles. Let us know in the comments if you prefer the cocoon pattern for straight needles.

When baby grows up

To enlarge your cocoon after baby's 5 months, we suggest you order an additional ball (“I enlarge my cocoon” option), all you need to do is unknit the bottom of the cocoon and add the ball by knitting it in two ends.

The Ma Petite Laine birth cocoon allows baby to return to his favorite position, the one he had in his mother's womb, and gives him a feeling of permanent contact.

This position also facilitates digestion and reduces colic. Usable from birth, it grows with baby until he is approximately 6 months old. Merino wool, suitable for the most fragile skin, does not itch.

Newborns often have difficulty regulating their temperature, merino wool allows thermoregulation, the cocoon can be used in winter and summer and at all latitudes. To better understand how to use the cocoon with your baby, do not hesitate to click HERE to watch the videos :-)

Recommendation for safe sleep:

The cocoon replaces the sleeping bag and can be used while sleeping. It is smaller than the baby and its rolled edge is naturally positioned at the level of the baby's elbows.
